Holding on and Letting Go? February 21 - March 28 During the season of Lent this year, we turn our attention to what it means to be "Holding On and Letting Go." What do we need to let go of in order to hold on to God and God's promises? Lent is a time both to release ourselves from the bonds of distracting habits and to hold on to practices which draw us close to Jesus as we follow his journey, culminating in his death and resurrection. The pattern of holding on and letting go is a familiar one. Breathe in. Breathe out. Hold on. Let go. However, this pattern can become so familiar that we miss it in the course of daily life. Lent invites us to take the space of this season to be intentional about recognizing this pattern in our lives. Thus, the order of worship during this season has been designed to help us dwell in the pattern of holding on and letting go. This new order invites us to hold on to God while letting go of the obstacles and distractions that keep us from doing just that.
