Ten Thousand Villages
The mission of this store is to provide vital, fair income to Third World artisans by selling their handicrafts and telling their stories. Individual volunteers have participated in learning tours to the Indian subcontinent, Africa and Central America to visit artisans. The store was founded by Kern Road Mennonite Church in 1992 and is staffed largely by volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include working a shift in the store as a clerk, marketing, presenting educational programs in schools and planning special events. The store is located at 919 W.
